The Bridge
God’s Gift.
“Here at Zion we have discovered a precious gift from God made possible through a relationship with Jesus Christ.” This is that gift, in four pictures. It takes about two minutes.
Step one
God made us to know him.
God is holy, and he made people to live in friendship with him. That is what we were built for — to be known by him and to know him.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.”
Step two
Sin opened a gap we cannot cross.
Every one of us has gone our own way, and sin separated us from God. Good intentions, hard work and religion all fall short of the far side. The gap has a name, and the name is death.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… for the wages of sin is death.”
Step three
Christ’s cross spans it.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died in our place and rose again. His cross stands in the gap we could never cross and breaks the power of death over us. It is the one way across, and it is finished.
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”
Step four
Cross over — the gift is free.
Eternal life is not earned; it is given. Turn from going your own way, trust Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, and receive what he has already paid for. If you have done that today, we would love to hear from you.
